Formation House Members

Sr. Mary Kathleen Burns, California Formation Director.
I  just celebrated my silver jubilee.  I have  taught both elementary and high school and have been in formation ministry for 7 years.  I am the youngest of 11 children.  I studied in Rome and received my License in Theology with a specialization in Spiritual Theology in 2004.  Outside formation ministry, I enjoy facilitating retreats, leading Taize prayer services, serving on the RCIA team, and directing a parish outreach program for the homeless.

Sr. Mary Paulynne Tubick, California Professed.
I am currently engaged in ministry at St. Matthias High School as the Dean of Students and the Vice Principal. This all girls’ high school was originally established and administered by the Sisters of Notre Dame over 40 years ago.  Since our Archdiocese assumed the administration of the school in the early 1980’s, our sisters continued staffing the school.   It is a pleasure and privilege to serve at St. Matthias High School for I am a graduate of the school!  It is a delight to witness the traditions of Catholic education evolving from these young women who are being empowered to be actively engaged in the spiritual and practical aspects of their lives.  I have been at St. Matthias for the last two years after completing over four years of ministry in our mission school, St. Julie in Buseesa, Uganda.  It is renewing and refreshing to live at our Formation House!  The charism of Notre Dame is alive and well here!

Sr. Mary Rosaria Park, California Novice.
I was born and grew up in Jeju Island in Korea.  My family still lives there.  I came to the U.S. in 1994, to serve the Korean Catholic Community.  I have worked as a preschool teacher in St. Mary’s preschool in Los Angeles. I moved to Providence House in August, 2006.    I’m taking English and Citizenship classes.  This year, I’m helping in the kindergarten at St. Cornelius, also I’m helping in the 3rd grade Religious Education class at our parish.

Sr. Maria Marcela Machicote, Chardon Novice.
I was born and raised in Buenos Aires, Argentina.  My beloved parents are still there.  However, I moved a lot.  I have lived in Florida, Ohio and now I am enjoying the California beauty.  Before I became a Sister I was an ecologist.  For many years I researched animal behavior.  I came to the U.S. for graduate studies and I discovered I was called to be a Sister!  I love parish ministry.  I have the privilege to be with the beloved wounded people of God: the disabled, the homeless, the immigrants, the sick.  I like to visit hospitals and the homebound.  It is a wonderful ministry to try to be the presence of Jesus among His beloved ones.

Sr. Nanette Mary Zeimet, Chardon Novice.

I recently entered the Sisters of Notre Dame on September 13, 2007.  For many years I’ve worked as a Set Decorator for the film industry here in Los Angeles.  I also have worked for the photographic industry.  My major in college was fine art.  I hope that I can use this experience towards some type of art therapy.  I am also hoping to begin bringing the Eucharist to home bound parishioners soon.
