Sister Mary Annrita Martin died peacefully on June 21, after spending a very short time in the health care center.
Sister Mary Annrita was in her 93rd year of life and her 73th year of Religious Profession.
The daughter of Mary and Edwin Martin, Veronica was the eldest of six children. Growing up in a large loving family gave Sister Mary Annrita an advantage in managing a classroom of children. Sister was a natural teacher and enjoyed education her whole life. She worked very hard on school preparation and was a very thorough teacher.
After her profession in Cleveland, Ohio, Sister taught for thirty-four years in the State of Ohio as well as in the Campus School in Washington, D.C. During these years Sister was often the local superior, principal and eighth grade teacher. In 1969, Sister Mary Annrita came to California where she began her ministry at S1. Joan of Arc School in Los Angeles. For the next 20 years Sister taught both Elementary and High School in several California schools until she came to the Provincial Center in 1990.
Sister was also a great letter writer and never forgot a Christmas card, birthday or nameday of the sisters in the provincial center. Until her fall a few weeks ago, Sister was interested in world and local news and kept up with the comings and goings at the provincial center.
Left to mourn her are her brother Robert Martin, her many nieces, nephews and cousins.
May Sister Mary Annrita be blessed with the peace and joy of God's presence forever.
