Jubilarians Celebrate 140 Years of Religious Life
Sisters of Notre Dame renew their vows

On July 8, 2006, three Sisters of Notre Dame celebrated their combined 140 years of religious life and renewed their vows at a jubilee liturgy and luncheon held at Notre Dame Center in Thousand Oaks, Ca. Sr. Mary Immaculate Moose, former teacher, principal, and coordinator of SND schools throughout California, celebrated her Jubilee of Grace, 65 years; Sr. Mary Christopher Smetanka, former teacher, director of religious education and archdiocesan consultant, celebrated her Golden Jubilee, 50 years; and Sr. Mary Frances Wahl, current principal of St. Helen's School in South Gate, celebrated her Silver Jubilee, 25 years.

The jubilarian sisters were joined in the celebration by the SND community and four priests as well as nearly 200 family members, friends, and former students. In addition, teens, teachers and parishioners St. Helen's parish boarded a chartered school bus from South Gate to Thousand Oaks for the celebration.
